Alvin and the Chipmunks Costume

This Alvin and the Chipmunks costume is a great way for three kids to be creative while trick or treating. If there aren't enough kids in your house, ask their friends.
What you'll need:
Alvin
- Red turtleneck shirt (check thrift shops!)
- Yellow fabric
- Wonder Under fusible webbing
- Scissors
- Iron
- Pen or pencil
- Computer and printer, optional
- Red baseball cap
- Black face paint
Simon
- Large, oversized, black glasses
- Blue turtleneck shirt (check thrift shops!)
- Hair mousse
- Black face paint
Theodore
- Green turtleneck shirt (check thrift shops!)
- Hair mousse
- Black face paint
Banner: Choose the style of banner desired.
Computer Printed Banner
- Stick or dowel rod
- Tape, Staple, or Glue
- Computer
- Graphics program that creates banners
- Printer that can print banner paper
- Banner paper
Felt Banner
- Stick or dowel rod
- Staple, or Glue
- Felt in long strip
- Felt for alphabet letters
- Paper
- Pen or pencil
- Scissors
- Computer and printer, optional
How to make it:
Need a picture of the Chipmunks?Alvin
- Draw a large "A" on the paper side of the fusible webbing. If you would like, use your computer and a graphics program to print off a large "A" on printer paper. Transfer to the Wonder Under.
- Cut a square around the "A" on the Wonder Under.
- Fuse the Wonder Under to the back side of the yellow fabric according to manufacturer's instructions.
- Cut the "A" out of the fabric.
- Remove the paper backing off the Wonder Under.
- Fuse the "A" on to the middle of the red shirt according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Put the shirt on the child and add the cap.
- Use the black face paint to color the end of the child's nose.

- Put the blue shirt on the child.
- Add mousse to their hair.
- Add the large over-sized glasses. You can print some glasses from Making Friend's Harry Potter Glasses printable craft.
- Use the black face paint to color the end of the child's nose.

- Put the green shirt on the child.
- Add mousse to their hair.
- Use the black face paint to color the end of the child's nose.
Computer Printed Banner
- Using your graphics program, type in "Chipmunks" on the banner.
- Print on banner paper.
- Staple or tape to the stick or dowel rod.
- Let the children take turns carrying the banner.
Felt Banner
- Either draw up the letters for the "Chipmunks" banner on paper, or print off letters using your computer and printer.
- Cut out the letters.
- Trace around the letters on the felt and cut out.
- Glue the letters on a long strip of felt. Cut the long banner to size, if needed. Let dry.
- Staple or glue the banner to the stick or dowel rod.
- Let the children take turns carrying the banner.
