Decorate your clothes this Halloween with these cute little bat pins! These make great gifts too, so make several at once.

What you'll need:

  • Black craft foam
  • 2 small wiggle eyes
  • 1 miniature purple pom pom
  • Small scrap of white craft foam
  • Purple or pink glitter glue
  • Paintbrush
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Pin back
  • Pattern

How to make it:

  1. Enlarge the image of the bat (see "Pattern" link above), print it and cut it out from black craft foam.
  2. Coat the entire bat with glitter glue and let dry.
  3. Glue wiggle eyes in place.
  4. Glue on purple pom-pom for the nose.
  5. Cut two tiny triangles from white craft foam and glue below the nose. Let dry completely before moving to the next step. Once dry, flip the bat over and glue pin back to its back. Let dry completely.

Notes:

  • You can use paint instead of the felt for facial features. Simply dot on eyes using the handle end of a paintbrush dipped in white paint, then make a smaller dot with black paint for the irises. Use a dot of purple for the nose and a toothpick to draw on white fangs.
  • These make cute magnets as well. To make one, simply eliminate the pin back and replace it with a magnet.
  • These bats are fun to make any time, not just for Halloween. They can work as nametags for an upcoming field trip and are a great classroom project. Simply glue a rectangular piece of white foam halfway up the back of the bat and write the child’s name on the white tag with black marker.
