Clown place settings

Parental supervision is recommended

Give all your birthday party guests a little take home gift with these clown place settings. Kids can easily craft these from a Styrofoam ball and a few other crafting materials.

What you'll need:

  • 1" Styrofoam ball
  • Tiny red pom pom
  • Tiny wiggle eyes, optional
  • Markers in black and red
  • Felt scrap for hat
  • Scissors
  • Tacky glue
  • 1 or 2 Green chenille stems
  • Wire cutters, optional
  • Index card or other white stiff paper

How to make it:

  1. Cut a small circle out of felt. Make a slit towards the middle only going half way across the circle.
  2. Bend the circle into a cone shape that will fit the clown's head. Glue the cone shape together and on top of the clown.
  3. Use markers to draw on the eyes and mouth or glue on wiggle eyes.
  4. Glue on the red pom pom nose.
  5. Use the green chenille stem to create a body that will sit on your table with arms and legs. You may need to use a second chenille stem. If needed, use the wire cutters to cut off any excess. Please have an adult do this!
  6. Cut a piece of stiff paper to create the name tag to fit in the clown's hands.
  7. Write the person's name on the tag and place in the clown's hands.
  8. Make one for each guest. Let the guest take home their clown at the end of the party.
