Ask a Craft Expert: Personalize It!
By: Amanda Formaro
Q: “During the summer, my kids wear t-shirts and sandals everyday. They love to decorate and personalize their items, but I need some creative and practical ways to help them do it. Any suggestions ?”
A: Summer is a great time for decorating wearable items and sharing that fun with friends. There are several ways for your kids to add their creative touch to plain clothing. But shirts and shoes aren’t the only things they can put their name on!
We have several fun idea starters for you this month. Set up a card table in the front yard, and get busy making these fun warm weather crafts.
Warmer weather means no socks and time to pull out the sandals. Your kids will love creating our Fancy Flip Flops and showing them off to their friends. Don’t be surprised if kids start showing up at your door with sandals and glue in hand, hoping to join in the fun!
Don’t forget your shades! The bright summer sun is here, so why not create some Fun Sunglasses for your kids. Whether you personalize them with your child’s name or choose a pretty theme, children will have a blast with this super simple project.
Kids and paint… it’s a given! With summer almost here, why not sit down and help them design their very own t-shirt? Get creative using stamps, paint and lots of imagination! Not sure where to start? Try our Painted T-shirts on for size.
With warm weather comes growth in your garden . Children love to dig and grow something to call their very own. Make it official by creating Personalized Plant Pokes that tell the world just who did all that work!
Staying creative is the key. Think about your children’s interests and hobbies when choosing your craft projects. If little Suzie likes flowers, pick bright colors and fun flower power shapes. If Tommy is into dinosaurs, pick earth tone colors and paint some plants around the animals.
