Have your child make his/her own felt stocking this year. All you need is some felt, glue, and imagination.
Decorate your whole home with festive Christmas crafts! Create homemade cards, your own Christmas ornaments, tasty Christmas recipes, or just snuggle up together with printable Christmas activities.
What you'll need:
- 2 sheets red felt
- 1 sheet white felt
- Felt glue
- Glitter glue: red & silver or gold
- Scissors
- Pattern
How to make it:
- Layer both red sheets of felt on top of one another. Use pattern to cut two stockings using the two sheets of felt.
- Cut two 4" x 8" strips from the white felt.
- Coat the about ½" of the top of the stocking with glue and glue the white felt on top of it (see image). Fold the white felt over on top of the glue. Repeat on the other side. Repeat with other stocking and let dry (see image).
- When dry, trim off the excess overhang of the white felt (see image).
- You will now glue the two stockings together. Pipe a line of felt glue around the edge of the stocking, all the way up the sides, but not across the top of the opening. Place the other stocking on top, line up and gently press together. Let dry (see image).
- Use silver or gold glitter glue to write child's name on the white cuff (see image).
- Decorate the front of the stocking however you like. We used white glitter glue to add a simple snowflake.
Tips:
- If you would like your stocking to have a hanger, insert a piece of looped ribbon inside the cuff as you glue the stocking together.
- Glitter glue can be found at discount department stores.
- Felt is inexpensive and so fun to work with. Stock up each time you hit the store!
