What you'll need:

  • Orange and black construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Crayons
  • Cookie cutters
  • Glitter glue (optional)

How to make it:

  1. Use cookie cutters to trace shapes from one color of the paper.
  2. Glue the shapes to the other color of paper.
  3. You can use glitter glue to outline the shapes or decorate with other supplies such as wiggle eyes, crayons, yarn, etc.
  4. You can also create a hanger by taping a piece of yarn to the back of the paper.

Tips:

  • If after your kids have decorated their pictures and they are too heavy to hang, simply glue the entire creation to a piece of poster board.

  • This is a very simple project for young children. Sit your toddler down and show them what each shape is. Add wiggle eyes and smiley faces to create a friendly and happy concept to what could potentially be frightening items.
  • Orange and black are the traditional Halloween colors, however you can use whatever color paper you like. Try a white background and all different colored paper to create scenes, such as green for leaves and brown for pumpkin stems, black for cats and white for their whiskers, etc.
