Santa’s Christmas Hat Card

What you'll need:

  • Red glitter
  • Watered-down craft glue (recommended: Mod Podge)
  • Paint brush
  • White cardstock
  • Red paper
  • Pencil
  • Ruler
  • Paper scissors
  • 1" polystyrene (aka-"Styrofoam") chip ball
  • White glitter
  • Hot glue gun
  • Glue stick
  • 1/8" dowel
  • Pattern 1
  • Pattern 2

How to make it:

Step 1: Pattern

  1. Trace and cut out pattern card (a) on white cardstock fold.
  2. Trace and cut out pattern (b) on red paper.

Step 2: Santa’s Hat

  1. Apply glue to front and back of folded card (a) using glue stick.
  2. Cover glued area with red paper cut-out (template b).
  3. Apply a thin coat of watered-down glue over red paper and cover with red glitter.
  4. Glue a 1" polystyrene ball to the center left side of hat for pompom.
  5. Fold tip of red hat and glue tip to ball.
  6. Apply a thin coat of watered-down glue over folded hat and apply red glitter.

Step 3: White Pompom and Brim

  1. Cut various lengths of ¼” strips of white cardstock.
  2. Roll up the ¼” strips using a dowel.
  3. Glue curls on hat brim and on pom pom.
  4. Apply a thin coat of watered-down craft glue on brim.
  5. Sprinkle with white glitter.

Tips:

  • Substitute red glitter for red velvet fabric.
