Adorned Journal

Age: Teenagers (13+)

Average User Rating:

Want the outside of your journal to represent you as much as what's locked inside? Tell a little bit about yourself without giving too much away by adding colorful papers and textures, jewels and mirrors, ribbons and feathers to the outside of any plain-Jane journal.

What you'll need:

  • Journal
  • Jewels, ribbon, mirrors, feathers, textured papers, photo of yourself, and any other item that expresses your personality
  • Hot glue and glue gun

How to make it:

  1. Choose items that describe you. Do you enjoy the outdoors? Choose some dried leaves or flowers. Are you a musician? Find some old sheet music to tear apart. Do you have any pets? Make a footprint of your dog on a piece of paper. What is your style? Choose colors of paper and adornments that mirror your personality.

  2. Experiment with the items you have chosen by laying them out onto your journal.

  3. Reposition them until you see your layout truly being a visual representation of you!

  4. If your journal does not have a closure you can use a piece of ribbon to tie it shut. Hot glue a long ribbon from the right edge of the front cover, around the spine of your journal, and across the back so that the loose ends meet. Trim and tie.

  5. Use hot glue carefully to adhere your items to the cover of your journal.
