Create a snowman figure that's a little bit different with this craft that uses three circular paper mache boxes. Makes a fun kids' activity for a winter afternoon.
What you'll need:
- Three paper mache boxes in incremental sizes (One and a half inches, One and 3/4 inches, and two inches across)
- White craft paint
- Black craft paint
- Paint brush or foam brush
- Two wiggle eyes (about 1/4 inches across)
- Three black beads (3/8 inches)
- Red sock or red felt
- Orange Fimo clay
- Hot glue gun
How to make it:
- Paint the two larger boxes with white craft paint. They may require additional coats of paint.
- Base coat the smallest box with black craft paint.
- Let boxes dry.
- Using the end of foam brush (or other round surface such as the end of a pen), dip in white paint and apply white dots to the black box.
- Let dry.
- Assemble the boxes.
- Take the smallest box, turn it upside down and glue the lid on to the lid of the middle sized box.
- Glue the middle sized box, right side up, on top of the largest box.
- Take an old red sock and cut an 1/2 inch wide by eight inch strip out of the cuff. (see tips below)
- Tie the "scarf" around the snowman's neck.
- Glue on wiggle eyes.
- Glue on the black beads for the buttons.
- Take a tiny piece of orange Fimo clay and shape a carrot nose. Glue to the face.
Tips:
If your sock cuff is not long enough, cut a one inch wide strip. Then cutting down the middle of the strip, stop right before reaching the end. Straighten out and this will make a longer strip to tie around the snowman's neck.
