Celebrate the upcoming Olympics with these gold-medal crafts. Learn more about the athletes, try out sports printables or take an Olympic quiz!
What you'll need:
- Thin cardboard (back of a writing tablet, cereal box, etc)
- 10 sheets of black construction paper
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Silver glitter glue
- Sponge applicator
- Your favorite number patterns
How to make it:
- Using your favorite font for numbers, print out the numbers 0 through 9 so they large enough to see from a distance. Cut the numbers out, leaving a small border of white paper around each one. (See photo.)
- Glue the construction paper sheets to the thin cardboard and trim the edges neatly. (See photo.)
- Glue the numbers to the black construction paper; you should have one for each number.
- Pipe silver glitter glue around the edge of each black paper. (See photo.)
- Use a sponge applicator to flatten and spread out the glitter. Let dry completely. (See photo.)
Tips:
- Glitter glue takes several hours to dry, but by spreading it flat with the sponge applicator it speeds up drying time.
- Teach children how to score each athlete on a scale from 1 to 10.
- Save the cardboard from the back of your writing pads, inside packing boxes, from soda cases, and anything else you can think of that you could recycle for this project!
